Sometimes you can use clustering to estimate a sum if all the numbers
are near the same number. To estimate 24 + 26 + 23 + 25, notice that all
the numbers are close to 25. So 4 x 25 or 100 is a good estimate.
Estimate each sum by using clustering.
23. 29 + 31 + 32 24. 49 + 48 + 52 + 51
25. 23 + 27 + 24 + 27 + 26 26. 49 + 51 + 48 + 52 + 51 + 50

27. 24.861 28. 31,700,386 29. 20.433 30. 63,395
31. Which number has a 4 in the hundredths place?
      A. 2.483 B. 2.834 C. 2.843 D. 4.832

Structures: Bridges
Opened on May 27, 1937, San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge was built for $33,000,000. This suspension bridge is 1.7 miles long, with an average daily traffic of 125,000 vehicles.
1. Use rounding to estimate the difference between the length of the Golden Gate Bridge and Brooklyn Bridge, which is 0.66 mile long.
2. About how many vehicles cross the Golden Gate Bridge in 2 days? In 4 days? In 8 days?
