Before you can answer a test question, you have to understand it.
You can use the tips below to help you understand what the
question is asking.
Understand the Question

of precipitation each year.
Honolulu, Hawaii, receives
an average 22.02 inches of
precipitation each year.
• Look for important words (words
   that tell what the problem is about
  and highlighted words).
• Turn the question into a statement
   that begins: "I need to find ... "
I need to find how much more rain falls on Mount Waialeale than in Honolulu
Compare and more are in bold type. This tells me I am to find how much more one number is than the other number
Compare the average yearly
