  Test-Taking Strategies
  Remember these six test-taking strategies that will help you do well on tests.
  These strategies are also taught in the Test Talk before each chapter test.
Understand the Question Get Information for the Answers
  • Look for important words.
  • Turn the question into a statement:
     “I need to find out...”
 • Get information from text.
 • Get information from pictures, maps,
    diagrams, tables, graphs.
1. Which figure does NOT have a line of     symmetry? 2. Van is ordering a sandwich for lunch.     He needs to pick the type of bread he     wants and a filling. How many possible     combinations of one type of bread and     one filling does he have to choose     from? Explain.

    1. What are some important words in         the problem that tell you what the         problem is about?
    2. What important word in the problem
        is highlighted using capital letters?

        to solve the problem?
