REVIEW SYLLABLE PATTERNS V/CV AND VC/V
Have each student write individual
spelling words on note cards or
slips of paper. Students work with
a partner, placing the cards or
papers face down on a desk,
turning them over, and identifying
their syllable patterns.
Spelling Strategy
Problem Parts
Have students practice
spelling words by separating
their syllables according to
the syllable patterns. First
review the rule for spelling
V/CV and VC/V words. Then
have students separate words
into syllables.
Finally, have students spell
the syllables, then put them
together to spell the entire
word.
