Write the letters a, e, and o on the
board. Underneath each letter,
write the corresponding digraphs

using at least four spelling words.
Have children illustrate each poem
and display their work on the
bulletin board.

Write the spelling words on the board. Have students come to the board and circle the digraph in each word.

Different Digraphs
There are often several ways to spell the same digraph sound. For example, long a can be spelled ai or ay. Have students pay attention to the digraphs in each spelling word.
