SKILL CHARACTER Characters are people or
animals in a story. To learn what a character is like,
look at what he or she says and does.
STRATEGY VISUALIZE To understand what
a character is like, you can visualize–make a picture in your mind while you are reading. When you read how a character acts, picture it. When you read what a character says, hear it.
SKILL CHARACTERIZATION Characterization is the way an author describes or portrays a character. You show characterization by reading as if you are the character, feeling and speaking as the character would.
