Reread for Fluency
MODEL Read aloud pp. 5–7 of the Leveled
Reader The Boy Who Cried Wolf, emphasizing characterization. Have students note how your voice shows emotion and changes when you read lines of dialogue for the various characters. Discuss how reading with characterization in mind makes the story more interesting and enjoyable.
PRACTICE Have students reread passages from The Boy Who Cried Wolf with a partner or individually. For optimal fluency, they should reread three or four times. As students read, monitor fluency and provide corrective feedback. Students in this group are assessed in Week 3.
