Have students note how you read words in
meaningful groups together. Discuss how reading in phrases creates a pleasing rhythm and makes the text easier to understand.
PRACTICE Have students reread passages from Our Garden with a partner or individually. For optimal fluency, students should reread three or four times. As students read, monitor fluency and provide corrective feedback. Students in this group were assessed in Week 3.
