Have students skim to summarize the important facts they learned from the book. Prompt as needed.

for Fluency
MODEL Read aloud p. 3 of the Leveled Reader Pictures in the Sky, emphasizing expression in your voice. Have students note the way your voice rises with questions and lowers with statements. Discuss how reading with expression will help students understand and enjoy what they read.
PRACTICE Have students reread passages from Pictures in the Sky with a partner or individually. For optimal fluency, students should reread three or four times. As students read, monitor fluency and provide corrective feedback. Students in this group are assessed in Week 3.
Revisit Leveled Reader Star Tracks
RETELL Have students retell the Leveled Reader Star Tracks.
NOW TRY THIS Have students complete their research project. You may want to meet with them to review their work and see whether they need to do more research. Have students share their findings with classmates. Then ask students to summarize the findings.
